TikTok has a huge number of wacky audio and video filters and some basic editing effects, meaning you can create funny and shareable clips without much effort. TikTokįinally, if it’s the silly viral aspect you liked best in Ditty, the massively popular video-sharing app TikTok has you covered. Type anything you like and you can send your friends an audio file of it being read by a synthesized voice.Īlso consider: Uberduck AI, if you want to simulate the speech of famous people. It’s not the most feature-packed speech synthesizer out there, but it crams a ton of different voices from all over the world into an easy-to-use package that’s completely free. If it’s the text generation aspect of Ditty you miss rather than the singing, this simple app will do the trick. There are loads of backing tracks to choose from and the app will chop up anything you say so it’s on the beat.Īlso consider: Smule’s Karaoke Singing app, if rap isn’t your genre of choice. Fast cuts, high energy, and auto-tuned “rap” created automatically from your words. Here, you’re speaking to the camera instead of typing a message – but the resulting video is pretty similar to what you’d get from Ditty. I thought a lot about all the experiences that people have had with the game when I was designing this new version. The experiences and love I had for the game has been outstripped by its audiences a thousandfold. I’m deeply grateful that SpellTower has been able to be something special for so many people, and I think that’s why so many people have shared it with friends, loved ones, and strangers on elevators.Įven though SpellTower is a game I made, it’s really barely mine anymore. Games felt like a way to do this on a huge scale, but the stories I heard from SpellTower players taught me that games do so much more for people than I ever expected. I wanted to help people think critically and come away with more than they arrived with. I got into games because I wanted to connect with people in a positive way. With SpellTower I heard about grandparents playing the game every morning to keep their minds sharp, parents playing it with their kids, expectant mothers playing it to get through morning sickness, and countless sightings of strangers playing it on subways, planes - even elevators. It’s pretty wild to be revisiting my first hit game, SpellTower. I can't believe it's almost 10 years since it released. The first iPhones it ran on had a 3.5 inch screen and 320 x 480 resolution! I literally did a double-take at that resolution when I looked it up.Ī funny part about having a hit game is people talk to you about it. Plus iCloud Backup, Highscores reported for games even while in-progress, detailed statistics for every mode, Game Center leaderboards, and achievements. Joining them is the brand new Search mode, plus ExPuzzle, Double Puzzle, Bubble Puzzle, and Blitz mode! If any letters make it to the top row, it's game over.Ĭlassic modes Daily Tower, Tower, Puzzle, Rush and Zen are all back and packed with brand new BONUS TILES that double (or more!) word values. Pick your words wisely! As you play, more tiles rise from the bottom of the screen! It'll take all of your lexicological wits, and tactical know-how to keep your columns down. And there are many more ShipIt projects that are purely inwards facing and help Atlassian’s internal processes. The ShipIt Voting Plugin (Something that helps run a ShipIt made in a ShipIt) These are just three of the many improvements written (or started) in ShipIt time.
People decorate their walls with those all the time, which is a reminder that the majority of clients buying your work aren't looking at things under a microscope and that it's more about the work as a whole. The detail in those pieces is substantially worse than the prints you could make from your images taken by your phone. If you want a tangible comparison in the real world, head down to your local home decor store and find their generic wall art prints that are roughly poster size. I tend to comb over my work meticulously, sometimes to a fault, always trying to deliver something I’m proud of. Thus, when I say I could see myself printing and selling images at sizes up to 16 by 24 inches taken from my phone, that’s incredibly impressive. I”m very particular and detail-oriented when it comes to prints. When I reference a professional print, I’m referring to something I qualify as detailed and refined enough to sell to a client. I could easily sell images of this size that were taken by my phone professionally. Bump down to 8 by 12 inches through, and it’s a no-brainer. I had to push this capture a bit too far in editing, so the noise levels are higher than I’d like them at this size. I honestly think I could print some images from my phone at this size professionally - not this particular image but one that’s a little cleaner, with less noise and better shadow detail. At 16 by 24 inches, you’re getting close to being able to print at this size professionally. If you look closer at the light on the fence, you can see visible noise. Taking a closer look at the clouds, the ISO noise becomes more apparent. There’s more detail in the Canon R5 shot. When you get in close enough, especially when you’re comparing the two prints side by side. The results were quite impressive, and of course, there’s a quality difference. Let’s just dive into what you’re all here for, the poster-size prints. These were printed as C-Type prints on Fuji Matte. I had these printed by The Print Space, who were kind enough to send them to me for free. I printed in three sizes: 8 by 12, 16 by 24, and 24 by 36 inches. I specifically had to push the dynamic range and noise floor within this particular image quite far, which you'll see in the resulting print. I picked this image from the original comparison because it was the most dynamic, with the most detail and a shot that was more challenging for the iPhone. The Image from the iPhone 13 Pro to be printed This is a standard practice in photography and exactly what I did for the images from both my camera and my phone. For example, my Canon R5 produces images that can be printed as large as 27 by 18 inches at 300 dpi natively, meaning if I want to print larger such as 24” by 36”, standard poster size in the U.S., I need to enlarge them. No matter what camera you’re printing from, you might need to increase the resolution of your images before sending them off to be printed. I wanted to put that to the test and see just how big we can push these images in print. The results from that entire comparison were very impressive, but there was an overwhelming response that the images are passable for online consumption but not anything professional. Then I tried to match the iPhone images to those, which pushed some of the images in the process. A brief recap is that I tried to capture real-world images while in the field and then edited the Canon R5 images first and pushed them just how I would normally. We’ll be using an image from that article for this comparison. I highly recommend you check out that article to see my real-world comparisons and editing methods. I already did a full comparison of the iPhone 13 Pro to my Canon R5 in different conditions and settings. Her ability to constantly harass the enemy from the frontlines with her Endothermic Blaster, shut down enemy movement with her Ice Wall, and then heal up when things get too intense is just too much fun. Hands down, Mei is one of my favorite heroes to play. She tosses a drone a short distance in front of her that begins freezing everything in a large circular area while doing steady damage over time to any enemy hero caught in the freeze. In most cases, by the time the icicle breaks and Mei is released, your own team will have caught up to reinforce you.īlizzard - Like Zarya's Graviton Surge, Mei's Blizzard is an ultimate that is best used as a setup for a devastating finisher by another hero. This ability gives Mei a ton of resilience and lets her be exceedingly aggressive. Great at dividing enemies from the rest of their team or shutting down pushes.Ĭryo-Freeze - When Mei gets into a spot of trouble and is close to dying, Cryo-Freeze will encase her in a icicle where she will recharge health and remain invulnerable for a few seconds. Once chosen, a large frozen wall will erupt out of the ground that can be destroyed by attacks or will eventually dissipate on its own. Ice Wall - Ice Wall triggers a targeting prompt on the ground to show where the wall will be placed. The icicle projectiles also have great range if you're able to compensate for the delay between pressing RMB and when they actually fire. During that brief pause, you can press RMB to form a sharpened icicle that will fire after a short delay, which you can use to headshot your frozen prey, killing most before they even unfreeze. Mei AbilitiesĮndothermic Blaster - Mei's Endothermic Blaster fires a steady stream of vapor that will slowly begin to freeze enemy heroes, at first slowing their movement before freezing them solid for a few seconds. If you like the idea of manipulating the flow of combat, Mei is the woman for the job. Her ability to freeze multiple opponents or stall pushes makes her useful in just about any situation and she is seriously one of the heroes who, at this stage, might be considered over-powered. Overwatch's Mei is an incredibly resilient defensive hero who excels at crowd-control. In 1993, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) started to use gender instead of sex. This change in the meaning of gender can be traced to the 1980s. For instance, in non-human animal research, gender is commonly used to refer to the biological sex of the animals. In other contexts, the term gender is used to replace sex without representing a clear conceptual difference. Most contemporary social scientists, behavioral scientists and biologists, many legal systems and government bodies, and intergovernmental agencies such as the WHO, make a distinction between gender and sex. However, Money's meaning of the word did not become widespread until the 1970s, when feminist theory embraced the concept of a distinction between biological sex and the social construct of gender. īefore Money's work, it was uncommon to use the word gender to refer to anything but grammatical categories. Sexologist John Money is often regarded as the first to introduce a terminological distinction between biological sex and "gender role" (which, as originally defined, includes the concepts of both gender role and what would later become known as gender identity) in 1955 although Madison Bentley had already in 1945 defined gender as the "socialized obverse of sex", and Simone de Beauvoir's 1949 book The Second Sex has been interpreted as the beginning of the distinction between sex and gender in feminist theory. Most scholars agree that gender is a central characteristic for social organization. Some societies have specific genders besides "man" and "woman", such as the hijras of South Asia these are often referred to as third genders (and fourth genders, etc.). Most cultures use a gender binary, in which gender is divided into two categories, and people are considered part of one or the other ( boys/ men and girls/ women) those who exist outside these groups may fall under the umbrella term non-binary. Depending on the context, this may include sex-based social structures (i.e. Gender is the range of characteristics pertaining to femininity and masculinity and differentiating between them. The blue (right) represents the male Mars symbol. The red (left) is the female Venus symbol. And while those who have transitioned, or who are openly nonbinary or genderqueer, may feel more like themselves, it often comes at the cost of discrimination from those clinging to socially-constructed notions about who men and women are really supposed to be.Gender symbols intertwined. Transgender people may feel profoundly disconnected from their true selves. Cisgender women may worry that sexism may limit their opportunities, or that the pursuit of their goals will lead others to see them as less feminine and somehow less worthy, especially if they do not dress or maintain their appearance in the ways others expect them to. Unfortunately, socially-constructed concepts of gender can hinder people in all of these ways.Ĭisgender men may struggle to live up to notions of machismo taught to them from a young age and pervasive in the media they consume even if doing so is really just an awkward act of pretending. Many people might be happier and less anxious if they could go through life without having to worry about whether their gender was affecting other people’s perceptions of them or their ability to pursue their goals, or without feeling doubts about whether they were living up to the expectations placed on them because of their sexual characteristics. Describing gender as a social construct is neither a casual nor an ideological phrasing. Warming: It is important to point out that, emptying the Trash will instantly wipe off DaisyDisk 3.0.2 as well as other files you’ve thrown into the Trash, and that this act is irrevocable, so make sure you haven’t mistakenly deleted anything before emptying the Trash. In any case you cannot move DaisyDisk 3.0.2 to the Trash or empty the Trash, try holding the Option key as you choose Empty Trash from the Finder menu, or reboot your Mac and try it again later. Some apps installed using the Mac package installer will prompt you for a password when you try to move it to the Trash. Most 3rd party apps can be smoothly uninstalled in that way, but you cannot delete built-in apps by doing this. This drag-to-delete method works in all versions of Mac OS X.
But if you’d only had to tackle the basics, you wouldn’t feel nearly as fulfilled. If you’d just gotten dropped into the last puzzle of any given area, you’d be staring at it, totally confused as to what to do. Valve builds up a vocabulary of actions and ideas over time, and makes you a maestro of stringing those verbs together. Think of Portal 2, which routinely introduces a new mechanic and then employs it in different, increasingly complex puzzles. But I think some degree of repetition is at the heart of any great puzzle game, because the essence of the genre’s design is in building complexity around basic principles in ways that force you to reconsider what you think you know. I’m never going to argue for length for length’s sake. Repetition in games is widely overused-most of what we play these days is, truthfully, longer than it needs to be, all to justify inflated production costs. My first playthrough took around 4 hours, according to the PS5’s internal tracker-and I think the game would’ve ended up much more enjoyable if it had bumped up that short run time with more variations on its challenges. Putting too fine a point on everything would have ruined the impact.īy contrast, however, I think Maquette‘s puzzle design suffers precisely because it shies away from absolutes. Maybe it’s about the recursive nature of memory or thought or emotion, but this is a case where vague thematic suggestions do more than specifics ever could. Perhaps the point is that love can make you feel bigger or smaller than you actually are-sometimes both at once. That’s not to say there aren’t hints at some unity between the gameplay experience and the narrative. But this is a small story that knows it’s a small story, and it’s all the better for it. A game that tries to tackle intimate, human topics always runs the risk (perhaps mechanically appropriate, in this case) of being up its own ass. Thankfully, Graceful Decay already seems confident enough to let those small moments bear the weight of the story. There’s a great understanding of the little aspects of relationships, good and bad, that shines through even in the brief time we spend with the characters. The performances are solid, giving the quiet moments in the writing a chance to shine. But there are also brief animated interludes where the two characters are fully voiced by real-life spouses Bryce Dallas Howard and Seth Gabel. Most of what you encounter on this front is text-lines from a letter from one half of the couple to the other-that appears in the environment, akin to What Remains of Edith Finch. Tying together the puzzles is a loose narrative about two people meeting and falling in love in San Francisco. It’s weird in a way that forces your mind to adjust to new possibilities, and it’s the sort of thing that you could only ever experience in a video game. Though I do have a few issues with the puzzles themselves-quite a bit more on that soon enough-the idea has all of the instant magic that made Portal such a blast. It’s a bit mind-bending and difficult to put into words, so it may help to watch a quick trailer, if you’re having a hard time following.īecause the concept is so interesting, and because it works how you expect, Maquette can devise puzzles around it by only adding a few other interactions: flipping switches, picking up objects, rotating them, and dropping them. You can even change your own size, relative to your surroundings, by moving in or out of the recursions. If you pick up an object and place it in the miniature, it’ll drop into the full-scale environment, only much larger. Most of the environments you explore are nested, with a smaller version at the center of the larger one, and vice versa. Its big gimmick-and I don’t mean that in a disparaging way-is recursion. Based on the early trailers, it felt like exactly that sort of game. To be honest, that was the reason I was excited to review Maquette, the debut title from indie studio Graceful Decay. After the runaway success of Valve’s 2007 title, developers big and small took the formula and ran with it: Come up with one mind-bending gimmick, and use it to put players through a gauntlet of puzzling fun. If there’s any genre I’m sad to see in decline, it’s puzzle games in the tradition of Portal. Metal Slug Tactics is now set to release in 2023 for the Nintendo Switch and PC. Gain some precious war experience after each battle and unlock weapons or bonus perks to upgrade your team’s firepower.” “Build up your adrenaline bar to unlock super attacks and use them wisely. “Experience the iconic dynamic battles of the Metal Slug series with a brand new perspective,” the game’s official description reads. Sync actions allow units to combo their attacks, dealing extra damage as they hit enemies between lines of fire. Its tactics incarnation looks to bring grid-based battles in which the crew must plan their actions to take on enemy soldiers, tanks, and mechanical monsters. Planned to launch on Nintendo Switch and PC, Metal Slug Tactics revives the classic side-scrolling run-and-gun franchise which first debuted on the Neo Geo in 1996. Players wield classic METAL SLUG weaponry, leveraging skill trees, perks, and a super attack-fueling adrenaline system to outwit and demolish flanks of the series’ signature villains. The tweet, embedded below, doesn’t elaborate more than that. Developed by Leikir Studio, Metal Slug Tactics reunites Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma as they lead the Peregrine Falcon Squad into a new battlefield through dynamic, strategic combat. Publisher Dotemu has announced that the tactical spin-off of the popular shoot 'em up needs more time to come together and will launch in 2023. In a year riddled with delays, Metal Slug Tactics is the latest game to slip into next year. “Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma are tinkering away to make Metal Slug Tactics as explosive as possible on release, but the squad needs a bit more time in the shop to prepare for the battles ahead,” the tweet reads. Greetings soldiers, Today, a new mission is upon us and it is proposed to you by Leikir Studio and Dotemu, who have teamed up to reveal Metal Slug Tactics. Metal Slug Tactics Will Now Mobilize In 2023. Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma are tinkering away to make #MetalSlugTactics as explosive as possible on release, but the squad needs a bit more time in the shop to prepare for the battles ahead. News of the delay was shared on the Dotemu twitter account with some accompanying artwork of the game’s core cast. A Christmas variant gives Fio stronger attacks caused by slight anger of a sortie interrupting her holidays. Her close-range attack is a smack of her tonfa, her long-range is a single pistol shot, and her special is a single Rocket Launcher shot. The comic designs and pixel-art graphics turned plenty of heads in the original trailer, but it appears that developer Leikir Studio needs longer to bring the game to completion. Metal Slug Defense Fio is a standard unit unlocked by completing Africa in World 1. We’ve heard little to nothing about Metal Slug Tactics since the game’s impressive debut trailer during one of Nintendo’s Indie World Directs back in August of 2021. Metal Slug Tactics reunites Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma as they lead the Peregrine Falcon Squad into a new battlefield through dynamic, strategic combat. Announcing a delay for the game on Twitter, publisher Dotemu – known for the stellar likes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, Streets of Rage 4, and Windjammer 2 – wrote, “Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma are tinkering away to make Metal Slug Tactics as explosive as possible on release, but the squad needs a bit more time in the shop to prepare for the battles ahead.”Īs such, the game – which has so far only been announced for release on PC and Switch – is now due to arrive some time in 2023.Grid-based pixel-art strategy game Metal Slug Tactics has been delayed until 2023, publisher Dotemu has confirmed. Skill trees, perks, and a “super attack-fueling” adrenaline system have all been been promised upon Metal Slug Tactics’ arrival, which was originally expected to occur at some point this year. Announced last June, Metal Slug Tactics reunites familiar faces Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma as they lead the Peregrine Falcon Squad onto a different kind of battlefield, where the series’ classic side-scrolling action makes way for “dynamic, strategic combat” on a grid-based map. That’s the basic concept behind setting up a cloud IP camera. Whenever there’s motion activity, your video and image recordings will be saved and stored in the cloud which allows you to access it from anywhere, including your Android or iOS device. Make Sure Your Timeline Page is Getting Populated To change the camera’s motion detection area, move the red box around, increase or decrease its size, then click on “Save Area”.ģ. Setup the camera’s Motion Detection by clicking on the Motion Detection. You can also change the camera’s positioning through its Pan/Tilt Functionality here if your camera supports it. You can take a look at what’s happening right now from the “Live View” tab. Go over to the Live view tab and see if it works. Since the setup is complete, it will get added to your list of cameras. ( Note: To enable HTTPS on an Axis camera, go to Advanced TCP/IP settings and ensure the HTTPS port is set to whatever you like (default 443). Once you have an Axis camera on your network, you can find the IP address. This means both your RTSP and HTTPS ports need be forwarded on your router. You’ll need to port forward your router to the IP camera so the cloud service has permission to access the camera. Once you click on next, you’ll have to add in your camera’s username, password, IP address, HTTPS and RTSP ports. You can name your camera whatever you’d like.
